There are a lot of harmful substances in our body, which are there as a result of our bad habits. These substances affect our health in a number of ways. Smoking, harmful addictive substances, medicines, car fumes, and air pollutants are some of the major factors that intoxicate our body. Moreover, there are other causes that store these harmful substances in our body, such as food preservatives, artificial sweeteners, and other additives. Some of the harmful substances are nonsoluble, and they have the tendency to accumulate in our body fat tissues. Such as hair dyes, perfumes, makeup, and hair sprays.
Detoxification is a process of flushing out these toxic substances from our body and increasing the chances of obtaining prime health (Fife, 2017). With the increasing awareness of adopting a healthy lifestyle, and the escalation of concerns related to obesity, cancer, vitamin deficiencies and other diseases, the detox drinks have become a major trend. More and more people are drawn towards natural remedies for their unhealthy life, and organic is the new black.
In this article, I’m going to talk about the benefits of cucumber detox water, which will help you get rid of the toxins present in your liver, and melt away all the excessive fat in your body.
The dietitians consider cucumber detox water as the perfect starting point because cucumber is found to have diuretic properties, which helps flush out all the toxins from the body (Manggoel, et al., 2018). Moreover, cucumber is considered to be a functional food because of its medicinal properties and is found to cure diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia (high level of fats, cholesterol and triglycerides) (Ogbodo, et al., 2017). The drink is really easy to prepare, and it’s so refreshing that you can drink it all through the day.
- 10 slices of cucumber
- A bunch of freshly picked mint leaves
- 3-4 slices of fresh lemon
- A few slices of Grapefruit
- 2-3 teaspoons full of honey
Grapefruit and Lemon have fat burning enzymes, and they also provide an invigorating flavor to the drink. Moreover, mint leaves have the ability to get rid of stomach afflictions, and also help in getting rid of fat.
All you need to do is take two cups of water, add the cucumber, lemon, grapefruit, and mint leaves to the water and set aside overnight. The next morning, strain the water and add two teaspoons full of honey. Keep it refrigerated, and drink it throughout the day. Another way of doing it is that you take a few cucumber slices and a bunch of mint leaves, and add them to water. Now pour in lemon and grapefruit juice, add honey, and blend it. Next, you strain the juice and store it in a water bottle for consumption. Whichever way you prepare this amazing drink, the key is to use fresh ingredients. Add this natural ‘zing’ to your water and keep up your health. Cheers!
